Make Way Day 2018

061 Make Way Day
Johnny O’Sullivan highlighting the Make Way Day campaign this year.

Polio Survivors Ireland took part in this year’s Make Way Day campaign, on 26 September, to highlight obstacles found on paths and pavements, which are often hazardous for those with disabilities.

This now annual campaign is organised by the Disability Federation of Ireland, to raise awareness and educate the public about everyday obstructions blocking footpaths. These can make popping out to the shop or to work difficult and dangerous for people with disabilities.

Our members went out to photograph obstacles such as bins, bikes, tree branches, sandwich boards and cars parked on paths and posted them to social media.
