
Susan Dowling
Director
As a polio survivor, Susan is an experienced advocate who has been deeply involved with Polio Survivors Ireland for many years. She served as Director of Polio Survivors Ireland from 2011 to 2017, including roles as Chair, Deputy Chair, and committee member. Susan founded the Kilkenny Social Support Group in 2008 and coordinated the Telephone Support Service, significantly expanding its reach. Additionally, she has been a Director of the Kilkenny Citizens Information Centre, as well as a long-term volunteer with its Citizens information Service. She serves as Honorary Secretary of Kilkenny Access Group and is an active member of Polio Survivors Ireland’s Services, Quality & Safety Committee.
Since 2020, Susan has served as a Peace Commissioner. With a background as Head Community Occupational Therapist, she brings financial acumen and budget management experience to her voluntary work. Susan is passionate about ensuring that polio survivors have a strong voice and is committed to contributing her skills and experience to support the ongoing development of the organisation.
