Irish Hospice Bereavement Line

bereavement support line IHF 2021

In June 2020 the Irish Hospice Foundation with the support of the HSE, launched their National Bereavement Support Line.

A freephone support line operating Monday-Friday, 10am-1pm. Freephone 1800 80 70 77.

Now, 1 year on they have dealt with over 1500 calls.

Their volunteers are there to help, listen and support any adult who has been impacted by bereavement  either during the COVID-19 pandemic or a previous death.

They have had calls from widows and widowers, adult children who’s parents have died, parents who’s children have died as well as healthcare professionals (and others) who have been dealing with more death and dying in their places of work.

They provide a confidential space for people to speak about their experience or to ask questions relating to the death of someone they know.

They listen to what a person says about what has happened.

They hope to provide comfort and emotional support and any information that might help the caller, including additional resources and other practical supports.

While we are always here to take polio survivors’ calls on 01 889 89 20, if you have suffered a bereavement and need to talk, remember you can contact The Irish Hospice. Grief is a lonely process and you don’t have to go through it alone.
