Eddie & Anne on RTE Radio
We were delighted to have been featured in this fantastic interview on Today with Claire Byrne, on RTE Radio 1 yesterday. Our members Eddie Roycroft and Anne Shanahan, met in their homes with Evelyn O’Rourke to tell their polio stories.
The piece gives wonderful insight into what Eddie and Anne have gone through as children with polio and how they are coping now in later life – both incredibly cheerfully, tenaciously and with utmost dignity.
Eddie and Anne made sure to mention Post Polio Syndrome and the issues faced by all polio survivors as they age – saying, as Anne put it, ‘that we ought to be minded’.
Evelyn and Claire chatted about our book, Polio & Us, making sure to mention our website and that we are here for anyone who needs our help.
Anne and Eddie discussed the difficulties they have and detailed how their involvement in their local Polio Survivors Ireland Social Support Groups makes such a difference to them.
We are very proud of them both for helping us to raise awareness of polio survivors and their plight as they age.
