Congratulations to the Cork Social Support Group!

The Cork Social Support Group have been shortlisted for the Cork Lord Mayor’s Community and Voluntary Awards 2023

They have been selected from a wide pool of nominations, and shortlisted in the Health & Wellbeing category. Each category will have a winner, as well as there being an overall winner of the Lord Mayor’s award.

Cllr. Deirdre Forde, Lord Mayor of Cork, will be announcing the winners  on the 31st of May in Cork City Hall. There will be a series of short videos made to explain the purpose and people behind each shortlisted group. The awards ceremony will be a wonderful opportunity to recognise the many brilliant community and voluntary groups across Cork.

We want to say a huge congratulations to the whole Cork group, and to their convenor, Evelyn! The work of social support groups is so crucial in giving polio survivors the opportunity to meet with fellow survivors and to learn from each other, in an understanding environment.

We are so glad to see them being recognised and are very excited for the award!
