Abayomi Ogunsanya
Director
Abayomi is based in Dublin and is a committed advocate for disability rights and inclusion, bringing both lived experience and extensive professional expertise to his work. A polio survivor and Irish citizen of immigrant background, Abayomi has been an active member of Polio Survivors Ireland since 2018. He has also volunteered with the Galway Theatre Festival.
Prior to his involvement in Ireland, Abayomi served as the Programmes Development Director at the Disability Support Centre in Nigeria, where he was also an unofficial member of the board. He led initiatives focused on independent living for people with mobility impairments, collaborated with other NGOs, and played a key editorial role in the centre’s bi-annual publication, ability+now. He also worked closely with the fundraising department to support the organisation’s financial sustainability.
Having benefited from advocacy interventions and services from Polio Survivors Ireland, Abayomi now wishes to give back, bringing perspectives that would strengthen the organisation and assist in identifying and addressing the needs of our members from minority ethnic backgrounds.
