Pat Ingoldsby- Dublin Canvas Tribute
It is so wonderful to see Pat Ingoldsby being celebrated with this stunning work of art by Steve Urnique for Dublin Canvas.
The Dublin Canvas project is a public art project which transforms unused public spaces into canvases to help brighten up the city.
Pat Ingoldsby is a fantastic poet, playwright and polio survivor. He wrote about facing polio as a young child in “Words to the Virus Which Found Me in 1942”.
He has written lots of other poems and plays, and his unique perspective of the world was examined in the documentary The Peculiar Sensation Of Being Pat Ingoldsby, by Seamus Murphy.
This box can be seen in Clontarf, on the corner of Vernon Ave. & Kincora Rd, near to Pat’s home. The artist Urnique Steve has known Pat since the early 1990s. He took inspiration from Pat himself. Pat has said he’d love to have a blue plaque up on a wall, but not after he was dead! The tribute was created with Pat’s support and approval, and we think it makes a great addition to the city!
