Mansion House Live Crib Collecting

Mansion House Crib

Our volunteers are at the Mansion House today collecting at the Mansion House, Dublin Live Crib – please go along and support if you are in the area.

The Mansion House Fuel Fund was set up by Sir John Arnott in 1891. It was originally set up to assist the needy during a particularly hard winter. At the end of that winter the surplus was carried over to the next year and the Mansion House Fuel Fund has continued to aid the needy in Dublin since. It is one of the oldest charities in Dublin. All donations go to those in need.

Polio Survivors Ireland has been fortunate enough to benefit with donations from this fund in the past two years, towards our Winter Heating Grant.

A specific need that we work to address is ensuring that Polio Survivors can stay warm as they are extremely intolerant to the cold. Winter can be a stressful time, when heat must be on throughout the day and often at night to avoid in worse cases, hypothermia.

We provide a Winter Heating Grant to Polio Survivors who are on low incomes and who would struggle to meet the cost of heating bills in the colder, winter period. This grant comes directly from fundraising and grant applications and without it we could not help the 300 polio survivors who currently avail of it.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our supporters and friends a warm and merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year.
