Highlighting Heating Support
Pictured are Macrina Clancy and Anne Shanahan, who kindly helped us to promote the issue of heating for polio survivors, for a photoshoot for World Polio Day 2022.
We were highlighting the extreme intolerance to the cold, often experienced by polio survivors, which can result in hypothermia. A grave concern during these current weather warnings.
We wanted to raise awareness of the importance of our Heating Support payment for polio survivors and to draw public attention to the need for donations to help fund this.
As many of you might know we have broadened our eligibility criteria so to be able to extend this payment to more survivors than ever before. This is funded entirely through donations and fundraising.
Fran Brennan, our CEO said: “We all know that energy costs are rising at an alarming rate. Many of us are worried about how we are going to meet these extra costs, but for some people higher energy costs threaten their health and even their lives. This year, with huge increases in energy costs, many more polio survivors will face a challenge to stay warm and safe. We have to respond.”
Please share this post and encourage anyone interested in donating to charity this Christmas to think of polio survivors.
